BACKGROUND

Crypto trading has become one of the fastest-growing areas within Axi’s offering. As part of my role, I contributed to the launch and optimization of Crypto Perpetual Futures across both mobile and web platforms. These instruments give traders continuous exposure to crypto markets without expiry dates, combining the flexibility of spot trading with the leverage of futures. Since launch, the product has seen 200% month-on-month growth in active trades, reflecting strong adoption and user engagement.

Retail traders want seamless, reliable access to leading cryptocurrencies with competitive leverage.

My work spanned both mobile and web, ensuring traders could act on opportunities from anywhere. Key contributions included optimizing order flows, integrating real-time data feeds, and refining UX for high-volatility markets. By focusing on performance and accessibility, the product enabled traders to participate in the fast-moving world of crypto with confidence.

PROCESS

SOLUTIONS

#1– ADD CRYPTO PERPETUALS TO AXI MOBILE

The first step was competitive research and benchmarking. I analyzed leading perpetual futures platforms, both within established brokers and in the crypto-native space. This allowed me to identify industry best practices, common pain points, and opportunities for differentiation. By mapping feature sets, order flows, and interface patterns, I built a clear understanding of what traders expect when engaging with perpetual contracts.

As the lead designer for Perpetual Futures, I was responsible for shaping the end-to-end trading experience across both mobile and web platforms. This was a high-impact initiative for Axi, expanding our product offering into crypto derivatives — an area where competition is fierce and user expectations are exceptionally high.

With this foundation, I began shaping design solutions that would balance powerful functionality with accessibility. Complex trading instruments like perpetuals can intimidate retail traders, so I focused on simplifying order entry, risk management, and portfolio tracking without sacrificing the advanced tools experienced traders demand.

To validate these ideas, I conducted user testing sessions with traders representing different levels of experience — from crypto-first users to traditional CFD traders. Their feedback was critical in refining flows, clarifying terminology, and ensuring that both mobile and web designs felt intuitive. For example, user insights helped streamline the order ticket, highlight key risk metrics, and optimize the way funding rates were displayed.
